Independence Day 2012

How did you spend your Independence Day?

It was 105° for the high where we live on the 4th of July this year. So…we ran around in pajamas most of the day. I did cook a big meal and follow through with a couple of other things…{new traditions below}

BUT did the tradition I have of dressing my children up in patriotic colors and taking photos hold true this year?

Here is a photo from last year…2011.

How about a few more?

The big dinner…brisket…mashed potatoes, green beans, fruit salad, and rolls.

Another {more} recent tradition?

Yep. Fingernails and toenails painted according to the holiday. The girls get such a kick out of it.

I had purchased a box of snaps for each kid (except Coop).  And Connor was too chicken to go outside to do his.2012-07-04_19-17-04_764

I did take them to watch a fireworks display that night. It was still hot…90 degrees. And it took an hour to get home from a normally 15-minute trip.

We are very blessed to live in a country with so much freedom.

Freedom doesn’t come easily or without price.

USA…land of the free BECAUSE of the brave.

{And no…you didn’t miss Paul in the photos. He was working. We missed him.}
